DOEN

Support

Answers to common questions, and a plain-English list of what DOEN's words mean.

Getting started

What is DOEN?

DOEN is a to-do app. You plan your day in Today, park things for later, group work into projects and areas, write notes, add pictures, and set reminders by time or by place. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and in any web browser at app.doen.software.

Do I need an account?

No. DOEN has no sign-up. Your to-dos live on your device and sync through your own iCloud. The web app connects with a one time code from your iPhone, so there is no password to make.

How do I add a to-do?

On iPhone, tap the plus button. On the Mac, press ⌘N, use the box at the top of the list, or press the system wide shortcut (Control Option N until you change it). On the web, press N or use the box at the top of the list. You can also ask Siri ("Hey Siri, add a to-do in DOEN"), use the Apple Watch app, or email a to-do to your private DOEN address.

On the web you can type naturally. "Call Sam tomorrow at 5pm #family" picks out the date, the time and the tag for you.

Which devices does DOEN run on?

iPhone and iPad (iOS or iPadOS 17 or later), Mac (macOS 14 or later), Apple Watch, and the web. The Mac app syncs with your iPhone and iPad through iCloud, or through DOEN on the web if you prefer. There is no Android app, but the web app works in an Android browser.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. On the Mac, ⌘N adds a to-do, ⌘K completes, ⌘D duplicates, ⌘F searches, ⌘1 to ⌘5 jump between lists and ⇧⌘/ shows them all. A second shortcut works even when another app is in front. It starts as Control Option N. Change it or turn it off in Settings, under Shortcut. Two more shortcuts can add a to-do straight into an area. They start off. Choose the area, then click Off and press the keys. For example, Command Option N can add one in Personal and Command Option M can add one in Work. DOEN has to be running. On the web, press N to add a to-do, Ctrl or Cmd + K to search and run commands, and G then I, T, U, A or L to jump to Inbox, Today, Upcoming, Anytime or Log. Press ? to see them all.

Can new to-dos go into an area on their own?

Yes. In Settings, open Default area and pick one. New to-dos and notes go there when you have not already chosen a list. A project, the area you are already in, or No area still wins. The choice is saved on that device. On the web it stays in that browser.

How do I back up or restore my to-dos?

On the web, open Settings, then Backup and restore. Download backup saves a file called doen-backup-ddmmyy.json with your to-dos, notes, checklists, repeat rules, projects, areas, tags, habits and the pictures and files in your notes. Restore from file adds anything missing and leaves what is already there alone, and one Undo reverses it. Download a sample backup with made up data to see exactly what it holds. For automatic backups, use the API.

Lists and dates

What is the Inbox, and how is it different from Anytime?

Anytime is for to-dos you can do now but have not scheduled. The Inbox (called Future in older versions) sits above Today and is for things you have parked, or have not sorted yet. Nothing moves into it by itself, except email and webhook to-dos if you choose that in Settings. Inbox items stay out of Today, Upcoming and Anytime until you move them.

Why is a to-do in Today?

A to-do is in Today when you put it there, when its Date is today or earlier, or when its reminder is today. To-dos in Today do not also appear in Anytime.

Why did my to-do go to Upcoming?

Upcoming holds to-dos with a Date in the future. The reminder always sits on the Date, so a to-do with a Date tomorrow or later waits in Upcoming until that day. When DOEN opens on iPhone, Mac or the web, it also moves any dated to-do that was left in Anytime into Upcoming. To-dos with no Date stay in Anytime.

What is the difference between a Date and a deadline?

The Date decides when the to-do shows up in Today. The deadline is when it is due. A deadline does not move the to-do anywhere. It shows on the row, and turns red once it has passed.

What is This Evening?

A section at the bottom of Today for things you want to do later in the day, so the top of Today stays focused on what you can do now.

How do repeating to-dos work?

Choose Repeat in the to-do and pick daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and how often. For a weekly repeat, tap the days, the same way the Clock app does. Wednesday and Friday can both be on. Weekdays and Weekends are shortcuts. You can also type "every Wednesday and Friday" or "every weekday" when you add a to-do. When you tick one off, the next one is created for you. You can end a repeat on a date or after a number of times.

"On a schedule" keeps the original rhythm, even if you finish late. "After I complete it" counts from the day you finished.

To repeat only on some days, choose Daily or Weekly and tap the days you want. For "Stock market opens" on Monday to Friday, tap Weekdays. It is one repeat, not five. Choosing days under Daily turns it into a weekly repeat on those days.

How do I duplicate a to-do?

On iPhone, press and hold a to-do and choose Duplicate, or open it and choose Duplicate To-Do. On Mac, right click it, or choose Duplicate in the editor. On the web, right click it, use the Duplicate button in the editor, or press Ctrl+D. The copy keeps the title, notes, dates, reminder, repeat, tags and a fresh unticked checklist.

Where do finished to-dos go?

To Log, grouped by the day you completed them. Untick one to bring it back. Unticking a repeating to-do also removes the next copy it created, unless you have already finished that copy.

Why does DOEN say I need to update?

To keep DOEN on the web safe, an app that is two or more versions behind stops syncing with the web until you update it. Your lists on that device are safe and keep working, and iCloud sync is not affected. Update DOEN in TestFlight and syncing carries on. On the web, reload the page. One version behind only shows a quiet note that an update is available.

Why did DOEN ask me to move a to-do out of Today?

Filing a Today to-do into an area does not take it out of Today unless you say so. Choose Keep in Today to leave it there, or Move out of Today to send it to Anytime. Giving a to-do a Date on a later day moves it to that day, and its reminder moves with it. A to-do with a reminder for today cannot leave Today, so DOEN just files it into the area without asking.

How do I reorder to-dos, or move them into a project or area?

On the Mac and the web, drag a to-do (or several selected ones) onto a project or area in the sidebar to file it there, and drag it onto Today, Anytime or another list to move it out. Drag it up or down in a list to reorder it, or onto a heading to put it under that heading. On iPhone, tap Select in the list and drag to reorder. In a project, press and hold a to-do and choose Heading to put it under a heading.

Inbox, Upcoming, Anytime, areas and projects sort by date, then reminder time (to-dos with no time come first), then your own order. The first time you drag in a list, DOEN switches that list to your own order on that device.

What does the Organise List button do?

The arrows button at the top of Inbox, Today, Upcoming and Anytime has two choices. Organise List by Reminder Time uses the automatic order: by date, then reminder time, earliest first, with no time at the top. Organise List by Area puts to-dos with no area first, then each area in the order of your sidebar, and inside an area by date and time. DOEN remembers your choice for each list on each device, so a to-do you add later lands in the right place by itself. Dragging a to-do switches that list to your own order until you choose again. On the web and Mac, Today's area choice also keeps Today grouped under a heading for each area until you switch it off.

Can I give a tag a colour?

Yes. Open a tag (in the sidebar under Tags, or in the Tag manager on iPhone and Mac) and choose a colour. Every to-do with that tag gets a thin bar of that colour at the far left of its row, and the tag shows a dot of the colour in the sidebar. If a to-do has several coloured tags, the first one in alphabetical order sets the bar. Colours are the same on iPhone, Mac and the web.

When should I use a project, and when an area?

A project has an end: "Plan the trip" or "Redo the kitchen". It shows progress and can have headings. An area is an ongoing part of life with no end, such as "Health" or "Home". Areas can hold projects and loose to-dos. On iPhone, Mac and the web you can add a project straight into an area.

Reminders

How do I set a reminder?

Open the to-do. There are two rows, Date and Reminder, with the Reminder underneath. Choose a Date (or tap Add date), then tap Add reminder and pick the time. The reminder always sits on the Date, so changing the Date moves the reminder to the new day at the same time, and clearing the Date clears the reminder. If you add a reminder to a to-do with no Date, the Date becomes today. The Deadline is a separate row below. You can add up to five alerts per reminder: at the time, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before, or a custom time up to 12 hours ahead. Choose your favourite alerts once in Settings and new reminders will use them.

Can I type a reminder time?

Yes. Under the Reminder time there is a Type a time box. Enter 11am, 2:30 pm, 14:30 or noon and press Return. It changes the time and keeps the Date.

How do tones, Tone only and Persistent work?

Turn on a reminder, then choose an Alert style and a Tone. Banner and tone is a normal notification with your tone. Tone only plays the sound with no banner and no repeat, which suits eye rest or mindfulness reminders. Persistent is a Time Sensitive notification: it can break through Focus, lights the screen and repeats three more times a minute apart until you open DOEN or tick the to-do off. Time Sensitive notifications can be turned off for DOEN in iPhone Settings, Notifications, DOEN. Silent mode and Focus rules still apply to tones on a device that is muted.

On iPhone, tone only works best when DOEN's notification style is set to Banners in iPhone Settings. The web plays tones while a DOEN tab is open.

Can I get back something I deleted?

Yes. Everything you delete in DOEN (to-dos, projects, areas, notes and habits) goes to the Trash, right under Log in the sidebar, and stays there for 30 days. After 30 days it is removed for good, automatically. Open the Trash to see how many days each item has left. Select one or several items and choose Restore to put them back where they were, on every device. Choose Delete to remove the selected items for good, or Empty Trash to clear everything at once. A project comes back with its headings, and a to-do with its checklist. With DOEN on the web switched on, the Trash is kept on the DOEN server, so it works on iPhone, Mac and the web alike and needs a connection. Without DOEN on the web, the iPhone and Mac keep the Trash in iCloud with your lists, so both show the same items, with no web account needed. In that case to-dos, projects and areas are kept (a project with its to-dos and headings), but notes and habits are not, because they are not stored in iCloud. DOEN's own clean ups, such as removing duplicates, never go to the Trash, and Erase all my data empties it.

How often does DOEN check for changes?

On the Mac, DOEN checks for changes made on the web or your iPhone every minute while it is running, even when its window is closed and only the menu bar icon is showing, and again when the Mac wakes. On iPhone it checks every minute while the app is open, and in the background roughly every 10 minutes or more. iOS decides the exact timing in the background from your battery and how often you use DOEN, so open the app for an instant refresh. The web app updates while it is open.

Can my reminders show in the Calendar app?

Yes, on iPhone and Mac. Open Settings, Show reminders in Calendar, turn it on and choose a calendar (or make one called DOEN). Each to-do with a reminder becomes an event at the reminder time. Apple does not let apps read your default alert from Calendar, so pick an alert there, or choose Same as the reminder to use the alerts on each to-do. DOEN hides that calendar from its own Today and Upcoming, so the events do not come back as duplicates. To label them, type a Title prefix such as DOEN: or Task: and "Plan for X" becomes "DOEN: Plan for X" in your calendar. You can also give each area and project its own prefix, such as Work: or Home:, further down in Settings, Calendar, and even its own calendar on iPhone and Mac. A project uses its own prefix first, then its area's, then the general one. In a browser, Settings has a Calendar link, a Title prefix box and a Download calendar file button. The download is a one-off copy that your calendar app does not update, so use the link to stay up to date. The link is a private address that Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook can subscribe to, so your reminders stay up to date there (Google can take several hours to refresh). In Google Calendar choose Other calendars, the plus, From URL and paste it. Anyone with the link can see your reminders, so keep it private, and make a new link if it leaks.

Different calendars and prefixes for different areas and projects. Further down in Settings, Calendar, under By area and project, each area and project has its own Prefix box and its own Calendar choice. A project uses its own choice first, then its area's, then the general prefix and the calendar chosen at the top. Leave a row empty, or choose Main calendar, to use the next one up. Changing a choice moves the events on the next sync. The prefixes are shared by your iPhone, Mac and the web, so a prefix typed on one shows on the others within a minute or so, and in your calendar link. Which calendar each area or project uses stays on the device you set it on, because calendars differ between devices.

Finished to-dos. By default the event of a completed to-do is removed from your calendar. Turn on Keep completed to-dos to leave it there, with no alerts, and type the message you want in the title, such as Done:, a tick or [DONE]. Choose where the message goes: before the prefix ("Done: DOEN: Plan for X"), before the title ("DOEN: Done: Plan for X") or after the title ("DOEN: Plan for X Done:"). Leave the message empty to keep the event with its normal title. These choices are shared by iPhone, Mac and the web, and the web calendar link follows them too: with Keep completed to-dos on, finished to-dos stay in the link with the same message and no alerts.

Can I skip a habit for today?

Yes. In Habits or Today, swipe the habit and tap Skip, or press and hold it and choose Skip Today. On the web use the Skip today button. You can also tap Skip Today on a habit reminder. A skipped habit gets no more reminders today, is left out of "done today" and does not break your streak. Choose Undo Skip to bring it back, and ticking it done also clears the skip.

Can I snooze or complete from the notification?

Yes. Press and hold a reminder (or pull it down) to see Complete and Snooze. Snooze can move the reminder 10 minutes, 1 hour or 3 hours on, or to tomorrow at 09:00. The new time syncs to your other devices. Snoozing a habit reminder syncs too: the habit's earlier reminders go quiet on your iPhone, Mac and the web, and it rings again at the snoozed time, with Snoozed until shown beside it.

Where do pictures go?

Pictures and files you add stay with the note, and they travel to your other devices through DOEN on the web. They are not stored in iCloud. On the web you can open or download a file. A picture you email to your private DOEN address is added to the note when your iPhone collects it.

Can I format notes, and is there a Notes list?

Yes. Notes on a to-do support formatting on iPhone, Mac and the web. You can paste text, and paste a picture from the clipboard. On the Mac, the text starts at the top of the box.

There is also a Notes list, under Log. A note there has a title, the same formatted writing, pictures and files. On the Mac, right click a note or use Delete Note to remove it. These notes sync through DOEN on the web, not through iCloud.

What is a place reminder?

A reminder that fires when you arrive at or leave a place, instead of at a time. Search for an address or use where you are now. The row shows the place name, or When you arrive. It needs location permission set to Always, and it is available on iPhone and iPad. DOEN alerts you at 250 metres by default; use Alert distance on the to-do to choose 100, 150, 250, 350 or 500 metres. If you are already inside the place when you set the reminder, DOEN tells you so and does not wait for you to leave and return. iOS lets an app watch only 20 places at once, so DOEN watches the 20 nearest to you and swaps them as you move.

My reminders are not arriving
  • Check that notifications are allowed for DOEN in Settings, then Notifications.
  • Check that a Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing them.
  • iOS keeps at most 64 pending notifications per app. DOEN queues the soonest ones and tops up the queue when you open the app and in the background, so open DOEN now and then if you have many reminders far ahead.
  • If you use Apple Reminders sync and chose for Reminders to send the alerts, DOEN stays quiet for those to-dos on purpose.
What does the number on the app icon mean?

By default it counts everything in Today, plus anything overdue. In Settings you can switch it to count only what is overdue by its reminder time, plus Today items with no time. Calendar events are never counted.

Sync and devices

How does iCloud sync work?

Sign in to the same iCloud account on your devices and DOEN keeps them in step by itself. Apple decides exactly when changes travel, which is usually seconds but can be a few minutes. Settings, then Sync, has a Sync now button and shows when iCloud last synced.

Changes are not showing on my other device

Check that both devices use the same iCloud account, that iCloud Drive is on, and that DOEN is allowed to use iCloud in the iCloud settings. Open DOEN on both devices and tap Sync now. If the other device is offline or low on power, changes arrive when it is back.

How do I use DOEN on the web?
  1. On your iPhone, open Settings in DOEN, then DOEN on the web, and turn it on.
  2. Tap Copy code, then open app.doen.software and type the code. It works once and expires after a few minutes.
  3. Your browser stays signed in for 30 days after each use, so you will not need a code every day.
How fast does the web stay in sync?

Within seconds while DOEN is open on your iPhone. When the app is closed, iOS decides how often it checks, so changes made on the website may wait until you open DOEN.

The web shows duplicates or does not match my app. How do I fix it?

On iPhone, open Settings and tap Force Sync with Web. On the Mac, open Settings and click Force Sync with Web next to Sync Now. DOEN asks you to confirm, then replaces everything on DOEN on the web with what is on that device. Anything that is only on the web, including duplicate headings, is removed, and any browser you are signed in on matches it the next time it syncs. Use it from the device whose lists you trust. It cannot be undone, and habits and notes on the web are replaced by that device's too. It needs a current build of DOEN and a connected web account.

Can I add an email to DOEN from Gmail?

Yes, with the DOEN for Gmail add-on. It is going through Google's review, so it may not be in the Google Workspace Marketplace yet. When it is, install it from there, then open Gmail and choose the DOEN icon in the right hand side panel.

  1. On your iPhone, open Settings in DOEN, then DOEN on the web, and turn it on. Choose Make a code.
  2. In the DOEN panel in Gmail, type the 8 character code and tap Connect. The dash is added for you.
  3. Open an email. The subject is the title, and the notes hold the sender and a link back to the email. Choose When and a project or area, then tap Add to DOEN.

Choose a default project or area with Change on the panel's home view, so new to-dos land there. The add-on only sees the subject and sender of the email you have open. To disconnect, tap Disconnect in the panel, or sign it out in DOEN under DOEN on the web (it appears as Gmail add-on).

How do I sign a browser out?

In DOEN on your iPhone, open Settings, then DOEN on the web. You will see every connected device and when it was last used. Sign one out, or sign out every device. To add one, tap Pair another DOEN device.

What does the Apple Watch app do?

It shows Today and Anytime, lets you tick things off, and adds a to-do with the Create New Task row, which opens the keyboard (or dictation, from the microphone on the keyboard). It works without your phone nearby. You can add a watch face complication for your Today count. Complications can take a little while to refresh after a change. The sidebar on iPhone shows how many items are in Today.

Can I see my calendar in DOEN?

Yes. Turn on Show calendar events in Settings and choose which calendars to show. Events appear above your to-dos in Today and Upcoming. Turn on auto-import and each event becomes a to-do you can add notes, checklists and tags to. DOEN never changes your calendar.

Can DOEN sync with Apple Reminders?

Yes, in both directions. New items, titles, notes, dates and done status flow across. You choose whether DOEN or Reminders sends the alert, so you never get two. On iPhone, the Apple Reminders settings have File by Reminders list: each reminder you bring in is filed in a project named after its Reminders list (a list called Reminders stays unfiled).

Importing and adding

Can I move over from another app?

Yes. On the web at app.doen.software, open Settings and choose Import. DOEN supports Things 3, Todoist, TickTick, Google Tasks and Apple Reminders. Projects, headings, checklists, tags, dates and repeats come across. You see a preview first, and one Undo reverses the whole import.

How do I import from Things 3?

Things needs a small export script on your Mac. The import screen gives you step by step instructions and a download for the script. It reads your Things data on your own Mac and writes a file to your Desktop, which you then choose in DOEN. Notes, checklist items, repeats and reminder times come across.

If a to-do has a tag that looks like a time, such as 9:30am, DOEN uses it as the reminder time.

How do I add a to-do by email?

In Settings, open Email and webhooks and turn it on. DOEN gives you a private address. Email a to-do to it and it lands in Today, tagged Email, unless you choose the Inbox instead (see below). You can also send to-dos from Shortcuts, Zapier or n8n with a webhook.

To send them somewhere as well, open Settings, Connect, Where email and webhooks go. For email and for webhooks separately, you can add your own tags, such as Receipts, and also file each new to-do into an area or a project. The same screen has a Put in choice for each: Today (the default) or Inbox. It still lands there with its Email or Webhook tag, and you can move it out later. The choice applies to to-dos that arrive after you set it, and not when a message names its own project or area. It is kept on the iPhone that collects your email and webhook to-dos.

How do I share a list, area, project or note?

Open the menu on a project, area or note and choose Share Link (on the web, press Share). Create a view only link, or one that allows changes, and send it to anyone. They do not need an account. In a link that allows changes they can tick items, add items and edit a note, and you see those changes within a minute. Pictures and files are not shared. Choose Stop sharing and the link stops working. DOEN on the web must be on, because shared copies live on the DOEN server.

Working on a project together. If you share a project with a link that allows changes, anyone who already uses DOEN can open the link and press Add to my DOEN. The project then appears in their own DOEN on their iPhone, Mac and the web, and changes go both ways within a minute or so: titles, notes, checklists and ticking items off, plus new items. If you both change the same thing, the newest edit wins, except that done always wins. Reminders, tags, dates, Today placement and order stay personal to each person. Deleting an item only removes it from your own copy. The web shows a note when someone else is working in the project. To leave, press Leave shared project on the web, or delete the project: your copy is removed and the owner keeps theirs. If the owner chooses Stop sharing, the copy is removed from everyone who added it. Only projects can be added this way so far, and the Add to my DOEN step is done on the web (it then reaches your other devices by itself).

How do Habits work?

A habit is something you do on a regular pattern, such as drinking water or brushing your teeth. Open Habits in the sidebar and type the habit. You can use plain words: "Drink water every 2 days at 8am, 4pm" makes a habit called Drink water that repeats every 2 days and reminds you at 8am and 4pm. Other examples: "Stretch weekdays at 7:30", "Gym every Mon, Wed and Fri 6pm", "Call mum on Sundays", "Read daily", "Walk every other day", "Run weekdays starting Monday until Dec 31".

To change a habit later, tap its name. Under Repeat, choose Days of the week and tap the days, or choose Every few days and set the number. Under Dates, you can give the habit a start date and an end date. Before the start date and after the end date the habit is not due, so it does not appear in Today and does not remind you. It shows up in Today on its start date. Leave the dates off for a habit with no start or end. Under Reminders, add as many times as you like, or type them, such as 8am, 4pm. Changes show in the list straight away.

Tick the circle on the left when you have done it today. A habit never ticks itself. Habits sync between iPhone, Mac and the web when DOEN on the web is on. They do not use iCloud.

What do the circles and the flame under a habit mean?

The row of seven circles is the last seven days, ending with today, which has a ring around it. A solid circle means you did the habit that day. A circle tinted in the habit's colour is a day the habit was due but is not done yet. A faint dashed circle is a day the habit does not run. Tap any circle to mark that day done, or to undo it. Nothing is ticked for you, so a new habit starts with no solid circles.

The flame and the number are your streak: how many scheduled days in a row you have done it. Days the habit does not run are skipped, so a Monday, Wednesday and Friday habit keeps its streak across Tuesday and Thursday. Today does not break the streak while it is still open, but missing a scheduled day resets it to zero. A habit that is not due today is shown a little dimmer.

A reminder rings at each time you set, on the days the habit is due, and stays quiet once you have ticked the habit for that day.

How do I choose what Today shows?

Use the filter button at the top of Today (on the web, the Show buttons under the date). Switch To-dos, Habits, Projects and Notes on or off, and drag them up and down (on the web, left and right) to put them in the order you like. The order you choose is followed on iPhone, Mac and the web. The calendar card, when you show your calendar, always stays at the very top of Today. Habits scheduled for today appear with a tick. Projects appear when their start date or deadline is today. A note appears when you turn on Show in Today in the note and pick the day. Your choice is saved on every device that is signed in to the same DOEN, through DOEN on the web and, for iPhone and Mac, iCloud. Notes written on an iPhone are not on the web or Mac yet, so a pinned note shows in Today on the device where it lives.

Can I connect DOEN to Claude or another AI?

Yes. DOEN is an MCP server at https://doen.software/app/api/mcp.php. Turn on DOEN on the web and API access in Settings, copy your token, then add DOEN as a custom connector in your assistant with the token as a Bearer token. Read the MCP instructions.

Is there an API?

Yes. Switch on API access in Settings and your scripts can read your to-dos and, if you allow it, add and change them. Send your token as a Bearer token. Read the API instructions.

Can I use Siri?

Yes. Say "Hey Siri, add a to-do in DOEN", or ask Siri to read out your list. It works on iPhone and Apple Watch.

Your data

Where is my data stored?

On your device and in your own private iCloud. DOEN only keeps a copy on its server if you switch on the web app, email and webhooks, or API access, and turning those off deletes that copy. The privacy policy has the details.

How do I delete everything and start fresh?

On iPhone, open Settings, find Start fresh, and choose Erase all my data. This removes your to-dos on the device, turns off the server features and removes their copies. On the web, open Settings and choose Delete my data. To remove the copy in iCloud as well, delete DOEN's data in your iPhone's iCloud storage settings.

This cannot be undone.

What does DOEN collect?

Anonymous usage counts through Google Analytics, so we can see which features get used. It covers the iPhone, Mac and web apps and is always on. It never includes your to-dos, titles, notes or places. The privacy policy has the details.

Troubleshooting

The web code does not work

Codes work once and expire after a few minutes. Go back to DOEN on your iPhone, tap for a new code, and type it in right away. Check that you typed it into app.doen.software and not another site.

The web app is empty or out of date

Open DOEN on your iPhone and keep it open for a moment, then use Sync now in Settings, DOEN on the web. If your browser was signed out, connect again with a new code.

I see duplicate calendar to-dos

If two devices import the same event before they hear about each other, DOEN keeps the oldest copy, or the one you have worked on, and removes the rest the next time it opens.

I found a bug, or I want a feature

In the app, open Settings and scroll to the bottom, where Feedback and Privacy are the last sections, and use Contact us or Request a feature. It reaches the team directly and does not need a mail app. You can also use the form below.

Terminology

What DOEN's words mean.

Alert style
How a reminder gets your attention: Banner and tone, Tone only (a sound and nothing on screen) or Persistent (Time Sensitive, repeats until you act).
Habit
Something you do on a regular pattern, such as every day, certain weekdays or every few days. You tick it each time you do it and DOEN counts your streak.
A web address that opens a project, area or note for anyone who has it, with no account. You choose view only or allow changes. People who use DOEN can add a project that allows changes to their own DOEN and work on it together with you.
MCP
A standard way for AI assistants to connect to apps. DOEN offers it so an assistant you trust can read and add your to-dos.
To-do
One thing you want to do. It has a title, and can have notes, pictures, a checklist, tags, dates, a reminder and a repeat.
Today
What you plan to do today: to-dos you placed here, with a Date of today or earlier, or with a reminder today.
This Evening
A section of Today for things that can wait until later in the day.
Upcoming
To-dos with a Date in the future, in date order. They move into Today on their Date.
Anytime
Open to-dos with no date, which you can do whenever you get to them.
Inbox
Parked or unsorted to-dos, above Today in the sidebar. It used to be called Future (or Someday in some places). Email and webhook to-dos can be sent here.
Log
Everything you have completed, grouped by the day you finished it.
Project
